Knitting Sweaters

Hello Sunshines,

I bought my first pattern book a few weeks ago, mainly because I wanted to hone my fiber skills more. Granted, I took these last few weeks pretty hard, the book itself was so intimidating. But I am here today to say that I am going to be doing the dirty, hehe… little jokes are always great to feel that much more comfortable.

Enough of the babbling. Let’s get into it.

The pattern book that I went all out for was the ‘Knitting Sweaters’ by Megan Goodacre. Please note the giant orange box on the top left that say’s IDIOT’S GUIDES. Yup, there aren’t very many people to ask about stitches or to be reached on how to knit, so this book and my trusty youtube profile is where the party is at.

I decided to try my hand at the ‘Comfy drop shoulder sweater’. Mainly because it was one block out of five meaning that it is really easy.

The little synopses that the book itself stated was,

“Even with a skill rating of 1, this is a very elegant sweater. One of the most basic types of sweaters, the drop shoulder, is transformed into a stylish, silky pullover you could throw on over a pair of leggings or a fitted skirt. The roomy body has a dropped back hem for a flattering line at the hip, and the fitted sleeves keep it from being too boxy”.

You read that right, guys. “One of the most basic types of sweaters”. Lets just take a moment to pray to the yarn Gods that it is as basic as it can possibly be for a beginning project.

As you can see in the picture to the left, which I found on ‘Google’ because the lighting in my house was just scary.

Looks like a super cute sweater right, it doesn’t look too intimidating, I think I am going to be able to do it.

Lets be honest, I thought it was going to be a challenge but thus far it is going pretty well. I was able to create the garter stitch ridge, I don’t know why I thought it would be more difficult, probably why it took me this long to plunge into this.

I can’t wait to show all of you the progression of my first sweater attempt.

Are you interested in knitting?

I have been trying to think about what else I could write about that would be helpful and fun for everyone. My fiancé offered his input and told me that it would be a cool idea to make video tutorials. It sounds like fun and maybe I will get into it. What do you all think should I record some tutorials to help you out? I mean there are a million and one videos out there, I should know since that is how I learned. But I did teach a few friends how to crochet and teaching others to knit. Maybe it will just save me time by recording it rather than redoing the process every time friends are interested.

Let me know what your thoughts about it. It would help me figure out what I am going to do.

Also, please note that all photos were taken from google.
